LAURA CAMPISI
An award-winning songwriter and jazz singer from the island of Sicily in the south of Italy, Laura landed in NYC in 2010 for the first time and fell in love with the city immediately. Mesmerized by its rough and electric vibe, she finally moved the following year upon receiving her first Artist Visa.
To support herself, Laura has worked as a performer, private teacher, waitress, translator, personal assistant, columnist and, since 2018, as a tour guide. With a deep passion for music, Laura has performed with various musical ensembles throughout Europe, America and Canada, and continues to produce a wide range of music - from Jazz and Folk to traditional Sicilian repertoire, as well as Italian and Mediterranean songs. She also writes original compositions in English, Italian and Sicilian, and sings in Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Punjabi, Sicilian and Neapolitan.
Her love for languages and for the world capital of jazz, mixed with her outgoing, friendly demeanor make her a warm and fun tour guide fluent in Italian, English and Spanish. In her own words, “I love to take people around New York! To me giving a tour and singing are not so different. The city is a stage on its own and telling its stories is like a performance. All you need is to love what you do and to communicate that love with your audience, giving them a good time and leaving them with something that they will remember.”
